Bula! Following our involvement in the HKFC Youth 10s competition earlier this year, the DB Pirates dug deep into sheds to assemble a significant kit donation, which was coordinated and shipped to the Yasawa Islands in Fiji by HKFC.

In a heartfelt message from the Fiji 7’s team, they shared: “Bula! Thank you for your generous donations, it has really had a positive impact on the communities here in the Yasawas.”

Most of the kit has already been delivered to a remote village in the far north of Nacula Island. This area sees very few tourists, meaning donations are rare. The village’s small primary school received items earlier this week, and the recipients were overwhelmed with gratitude. In a place where resources are limited, even basic rugby kit makes a meaningful difference to the children’s opportunities to play and stay active.

Later this week, the team will distribute the remaining kit to the main school on Nacula Island. Any surplus will be sent onward by boat to Naviti. Efforts are also underway to reach Soso Village, though its distance from Naisisili Village and infrequent boat services make logistics challenging. The commitment to getting kit into as many hands as possible remains strong.

This donation builds on the Pirates’ growing tradition of giving back through rugby. As we prepare for our involvement in the 2027 Bangkok International 10s, the club will once again organise a boot donation, this time supporting the Nak Suu Rugby Academy. The academy uses rugby to support underprivileged children, and recently the DB Pirates proudly collected and delivered over 40 pairs of pre-loved boots for this fantastic cause.

Initiatives like these embody the spirit of rugby, connecting communities across borders and creating opportunities for the next generation.
