The DB Pirates are a volunteer led, not for profit sports club in Discovery Bay that runs rugby and netball programmes for 5 year olds to adults.

We are delighted to partner with Wei Lun Primary School on an exciting Signature PE Programme designed especially for Primary 5 students. This fun, high-energy initiative will introduce the fundamentals of touch rugby while building skills, teamwork, confidence and a love of active play.

The 4 week programme takes place during school hours as part of the Wei Lun signature PE lessons. Each session has been carefully structured so that the students enjoy focused blocks of instruction and activity. With three experienced DB Pirate coaches on site, every child will receives plenty of attention, encouragement and opportunities to learn at their own pace.

Students will cover the core skills of touch rugby: safe and effective passing, evasion, communication, spatial awareness and basic game understanding. Sessions progress from skill-building drills to enjoyable small-sided games, ensuring learning stays engaging and inclusive.

Touch rugby is a non-contact version of the sport that emphasises agility, decision-making and cooperation rather than physicality, making it an ideal introduction for primary-aged children of all abilities and experience levels.

We are proud to support this initiative as part of our community outreach, so that more children can benefit from quality coaching and positive sporting experiences.

This programme offers more than just rugby skills. It promotes physical literacy, resilience, fair play and friendship in a supportive environment. Parents can look forward to seeing their children return home energised, having tried something new and grown in confidence on the field.
