A long and bumpy season for our stoic dragon boat cohort finally found joy last Sunday, winning first place in our first race of the season as a newly combined team with Lantau Boat Club at the 2021 Kellet Island Cup. The combined team, named the LBC Pirates, drew on experienced ladies, mens and mixed team members from both clubs. The women’s team stormed home to win on the day, with much (socially distanced) celebrating afterwards and big cup to prove it! Kudos to our passionate coach Jo Jones, and stoic steersman David Steed for getting all of us ‘over the line’! Our men’s team made it to the semifinals, so a great result for the day, and a reminder of why we train so hard and have so much fun doing it!
